| Holmes, NY Information Holmes is a small hamlet in the southwest portion of the Town of Pawling. It is located in Dutchess County, just north of the Putnam County border in the lower Hudson River Valley. It is surrounded by Stormville to its west and Pawling to its east, just north of Patterson and just south of Beekman. Those who are familiar with Holmes are most familiar with Whaley Lake, which is popular for its summer recreation. Did you know that Whaley Lake is partially man-made and it is controlled by a dam at its northern end? Also, it flows into the Fishkill Creek which empties into the Hudson River at Beacon, New York. Many are not aware that the Holmes post office actually services families located within the Pawling School District, as well as those within the Carmel School District. | Upcoming Clinic featuring Rex Peterson - the Hollywood Horse Trainer I am excited to say that Rex Peterson is offering clinics in NY again... Rex Peterson has over 50 years of experience and has trained horses for film - often sought after in Hollywood as the horse wrangler. His best known work includes Black Beauty, The Horse Whisperer, Hidalgo, Flicka, Dreamer, Appaloosa, All the Pretty Horses, The Ring, The Patriot, Buddy, Crazy Horse, Far and Away, Sylvester, Three Amigos, Runaway Bride and The Black Stallion. Rex Peterson will be at Cari Swanson's Windrock Farm in the Millbrook area several times during 2009. Rex is an amazing horse trainer who, within the course of a 3-day clinic, can be observed starting young/unbroke horses (as he did with my tempermental 3 year old filly), as well as working with "problem" horses and their people. I've witnessed him teach people how to break horse's bad habits (like rearing), and show people what to do to ensure they earn their horse's respect from the ground or under saddle. I am proud to say that I have attended several of Rex's clinics between 2007 and now and my horse has changed dramatically! She was a very difficult unbroke filly in 2007, but what a difference good training, practice and time make! In addition to helping you with your own horse, Rex can be seen demonstrating some of his famous Hollywood tricks by working with RJ Masterbug, a trick horse from the movie Hidalgo, or with his horse Tuff, who starred in Flicka. See Rex & RJ video at Equine Affair in MA on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mP3MUp3cAQo A list of upcoming clinics is found on the website: http://swansonpetersonproductions.com/news-events For additional details, contact Cari Swanson at: cari@cariswanson.com Rex Peterson is truly an exceptional and talented horse trainer. |
